How Masalona uses AI

Masalona uses AI only to voice the stories. Story texts are written and checked by our editors; AI does not write stories and never talks to your child.

How it works

• Narrator voice: stories are read by one of our ready-made professional narrator voices.
• Your voice: you give your explicit consent by ticking the box, then make a live recording of about one and a half minutes in the app. Its first sentence is your spoken consent. An AI copy of your voice is made from it, and stories are read with that copy. File uploads are not accepted.
• Your child's name: your child's name is placed into the story where it belongs. The name, with its pronunciation, is sent to the speech provider so it is read correctly.

What we use

Speech and voice copying are done with ElevenLabs technology, through an authorised partner. We use your recording and voice copy only to read your stories; never for advertising or anything else.

Your voice must be yours

• You may only record your own voice. Recording someone else's voice without their permission, or a child's voice, is forbidden.
• You may not use a voice copy to impersonate or deceive anyone or for any unlawful purpose. We delete voices that break these rules.

Transparency

The listening screen always shows "read with an AI copy of … voice". The copy is very close to, but may not be identical to, your real voice.

You are in control

• Delete your voice any time in Voices or Settings → Delete my voice; this withdraws your consent. The recording, the voice copy at the provider and every story read with it are deleted. A recording that could not be copied is deleted automatically after 7 days.
• A child's voice is never recorded.
